About

The UN’s definition of sustainability is hard to beat:
“…meeting the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
Simple, to the point, and powerful! Yes, it’s very human-focused, but that’s the point—it reminds us that every choice we make today affects the people who come after us. Economically, Ecologically, Socially. Most importantly, it stretches our time horizon. Instead of thinking just in terms of quarterly results or even our own lifetimes, it asks us to think in terms of forever.
Here’s a thought experiment: if humans lived a thousand years, would we have built an economy around take–make–waste and endless growth? Probably not—at least not to this extent. It wouldn't have worked as effectively.

This view of sustainability, is a way of simulating that longer view, even if we’re only here for a short part of the ride.
